Hive19 is delighted to announce that we’ve committed to reforestation projects in partnership with Ecologi, a social enterprise that works to achieve impactful climate action projects all over the world.
With this new partnership, we’ve already planted 116 trees and each month we are planting 15 trees in global projects in Kenya, Madagascar and Mozambique. We also believe that action begins locally so we are also supporting reforestation projects in the UK by planting one local tree a month through Protect Earth, helping to reverse the effects of climate change through informed, collective action.

Why we’re planting trees
Leading researchers have shown that tree planting projects are among the most effective ways to offset the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere, and circumvent the most severe adverse affects of climate change that are projected to upturn people’s lives the world over.
The natural ability of trees and other plant life to absorb carbon dioxide has made them a focus for climate action for many years, and an encouraging number of businesses are joining initiatives like this one to help mitigate the affects of rising temperatures.
A 2019 report by the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change showed that an additional 1bn hectares (2.4bn acres) of trees would need to be planted to meet the organisation’s target of limiting warming to 1.5°C by 2050. Though historically, it’s been hard to say exactly how many trees the world could support, additional studies have now shown that an area the size of the US could be used for tree planting initiatives, with the potential to reduce atmospheric CO2 by a massive 25%.
At Hive19, we’ve always been concerned about human impact on the environment. Our Operations Director Louisa has been campaigning for the last 10 years against fracking and reliance on fossil fuels, and is currently Vice Chairman of Frack Free Balcombe.
Though we all try to do our parts as individuals, we have committed to partnering with organisations such as Ecologi to create impactful change for the good of the planet.

About Ecologi
Ecologi is a social enterprise that was founded in 2018. Formed by a small group of environmentalists in Bristol, they created their platform with the aim to empower individuals and businesses to take real, measurable action against the devastating impact of climate change.
Through their straightforward subscription services, people and organisations can make regular contributions within a budget that works for them, and help to fund essential climate action projects like tree planting, building renewable energy infrastructure, protecting endemic species, and working with international NGOs to prevent deforestation.
Ecologi maintains a high bar for entry when vetting the carbon reduction initiatives they work with, and only support projects that are certified at the highest standards by Gold Standard or the Verified Carbon Standard.
Ecologi also places a great emphasis on transparency, and regularly publishes the evidence of their environmental work, their financials, and the proportion of donations that are going towards climate action vs running costs.
We love the simple model they’ve used to empower people and businesses to do more for the planet, and especially how the platform allows us to keep track of our agency’s own ‘virtual forest’.
Help us make a difference
Although initiatives like Ecologi are making great strides in the fight against climate change, the global climate emergency is more serious than ever, and more needs to be done.
If you or your business signs up using this link, Ecologi will plant an extra 30 trees. Together we can make a difference.
Alongside joining Ecologi we have also adopted a beehive in Worthing and have partnered with GreenTheUK to plant wildflower meadows to create wildlife corridors, support native pollinators and conserve at risk species, as part of our commitment to being a responsible and sustainable agency.
